Before calling Hotwood’s, you need to know the make and model of the machine your Heavy Duty Wire Winder will be mounted to, as each winder is manufactured to fit the power source you are using on the job site.

Most skid steer units will have the 14-pin connection that comes standard on this unit. Some skid steers will have a 7-pin, which can be solved by purchasing our 14-7 Pin Adapter when ordering.

It is very common to see these units mounted on front-end loaders, telehandlers, and skid steers, so do not be afraid to call us with questions. We can and will manufacture to fit your needs.

This heavy duty reel is designed to hold 4,500 lbs. of wire or cable. With cylinders on each side of the reel, you can spread the arms allowing the roll of material to drop with ease without leaving the seat, even after you have filled the reel with wire or cable.

Before the roll is dropped, you can run tie-off wires under the reel along the center frame of the unit to keep everything tight and manageable.

Our standard unit comes complete with cylinders, hoses, and hose tips to fit your machine.

Q: What if my company uses wooden spools?

A: With 51” of clearance when the arms are wide open, you can regularly load wooden spools or any other style reels with this totally adjustable wood spool reel option you can order with your winder shown below.

This photo shows 2 winders back to back on a stand during assembly and manufacturing. It also shows the width of unit when fully opened to 51”.

To the left is the left-hand or free-wheeling side of the reel that is adjustable simply by removing the bolt on the end of the shaft and sliding the spacers off along the reel end. Measure the width of your wooden reel, put the spacers on the shaft first, and bring the end plate out to the width of your wooden reel. Then, replace the bolt at the end of the shaft. You will then be ready to adjust the pointed stub shaft on the right side or drive side of the reel shown on the right to the location that it will fit in your drive hole on the wooden reel. With this system, you will have the option to use almost any size of wooden reel you may have.

To Note:

Unit above is shown with chain shield removed to show you the mechanical design of how it works. *Shields must always be in place during operation of this unit

When rolling any type of wire or cable, always have a drag weight on the end of the wire or cable to prevent whipping or jumping while coming to the end of pull.

NEVER remove any factory installed shields, as they are installed to insure operators safety at all times during operation.

*Operator must remain seated in or on power source at all times when machine is in motion.
