Hotwood’s Honda Gas-Powered Wire Winder

NOTE: Always have your winder secured to the pickup with the 2 tie-off loops located on the front cross member of the wire winder frame. This can be done by straps or chains connected to the interior hooks of your pickup box. This will prevent the unit from pulling itself off the back of the pickup while rolling wire.

The Gas Powered Wire Winder comes standard with the Orange Flat Reel Washer and Guide Arm. If you have an old Gas Wire Winder and you’d like to buy a new Orange Flat Reel Washer or Guide Arm, call (877) 407-8645 today!

After you service your new gas-powered winder and it is ready to use for the first time, you may need to adjust the motor on the motor mount base to the right tension on the belt, as it takes a while to season the belt and get the best performance from your new winder.

The standard yellow split reel is the same reel we use on all our winders. However, you can use the high tensile reel or any of our solid reels on this unit. The high tensile or solid reels can be ordered as options when purchasing your gas-powered unit.

The photo to the left shows the all-steel removable chain guard. This needs to be removed in order to oil and service the chain.

NOTE: Never operate the Gas Powered Wire Winder, without all guards in place at all times.

Replacing the V-Belt

When replacing the v-belt, always make sure the belt is under and above the 2 finger belt guide on the front of the engine pulley as shown to the left. If belt is not inside those 2 finger tines, it will be destroyed when the machine is in motion. This finger tine bracket was designed to keep the belt in position when machine is in neutral.

Note: Number on Belt is B47 Continental HY-T Plus.

Don’t Forget to Checkout our New Universal Wire Unroller!

Unroller shown mounted on pickup via 2” receiver hitch and one of our solid spools with resistance or brake plate being lowered in place. This plate will sit on top of the roll of wire as it pays out, keeping the roll from free spooling if you have to stop. The 2” receiver tube is long enough to give clearance for the tailgate to be in the down position while rolling out wire. The 5/8’’ shaft that protrudes outside the main frame through each side of the unroller is to be used as handles while lifting your reels in and out of the machine. The telescoping yellow circle plates are welded and slide together through our solid reels or a new roll of wire, barbed or smooth.

Yellow two-piece telescoping reel carrier being lowered into place on the right. This is the carrier you would put between any of our solid spools or a new roll of wire, barbed or smooth.
