You do not need to have a Wire Guide as shown in these pictures on the left to make it work, but it is a very popular option that makes the job much easier. If you’d like one, remember when ordering to add the Wire Guide Arm with your wire winder.

Hotwood's High Tensile Wire Winder was designed to be used with high tensile wire. The High Tensile Kit can be adapted to any of our 3 point wire winders that have the bolt-on motor mount arm. If you have an older unit with the arm welded to the toolbar, you can still add this kit to your wire winder with a little fabrication on your end by doing a small amount of cutting and welding.

The extension on the motor mount arm is shown below. This is an easy bolt in if your winder is one of our later models that features the bolt on arm. Cutting and welding will apply if you have an older unit that is welded solid on the tool bar. This extension needs to be added to give the clearance needed to operate the manual wire guide.
Shown below, the reel has 4 tie wire locaters on each side of the reel (just like the yellow split reel) to place your tie wires in prior to rolling wire.
AN OPERATOR MUST REMAIN SEATED ON THE TRACTOR OR LIKE POWER SOURCE AT ALL TIMES WHILE MACHINE IS IN MOTION!
High Tensile Complete Conversion Kit

If you currently own one of our earlier wire winders with the motor mount arm welded solid to the toolbar, you will need to have a local fab shop cut that motor mount arm and add our arm extension to give the clearance needed to operate the larger reel with the manual guide arm. (This can be done by the customer also). However, if you do not order the manual wire guide, you can order the red reel alone to use on that winder and it will perform perfectly for you as your yellow split reel has for years.

– (1) 3 ½’’ Motor Mount Arm Extender with Hardware (added for reel clearance)
This unit is very easy to install (less than 20 minutes with bolt-on, longer if you currently own the older welded arm unit, and need to cut and weld.)
Once it is installed you do not need to ever take the 3 ½’’ motor mount arm extender off the unit. Your winder will perform perfectly with it in place with any reel you put on it.

Our Universal Mount High Tensile Winder has the same style of 16’’ x 16’’ x ¼” plate mount that our standard Universal Wire Winders have. This unit can be mounted to any skid steer or anywhere with hydraulics available. It comes complete with a high tensile reel and all components to operate like a high tensile winder.

Photo to the left shows rubber spyder gear in place prior to mounting the motor on the motor mount. It is important that this lines up correctly with coupler on the shaft.
Always make sure the Lovejoy coupler and rubber spyder gear, between the drive shaft and motor mount, are true to each other. This will assure smooth operating while rolling wire.
